Vintage Pink Hatbox and Gloves

Oh the romance of a ladies hatbox and gloves...

Images of train stations, travel and adventures in far away ,dance through my head. Oh and let's not forget the fashions of the 1940's...

Vintage Hat Box and Gloves found together at a local Antique Mall a couple of years ago...

Do they tell a tale of unrequited love?

She traveled home to the family farm.
Big city life and men not what she expected them to be...

Or maybe just the opposite?

Her love is waiting for her at the other end of her journey.
The train pulls into the station. Pushing through the crowded platform, finally they reach each other, they embrace, they kiss...*sigh*..all is right in the world once more.

Be sure and pop over to http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/ and check out all the lovely Pink Saturday post.

Blessings Kelsie

Wouldn't you love to look back in time when ladies wore hats and they all came packed in hat boxes? What fun that would be. Happy Pink Saturday, Char

I love hatboxes and hats! In fact, I love to wear a hat although they're not overly fashionable. I love the way your imagination works! Happy Pink Saturday, Kelsie, and have a wonderful weekend.

Blessings,
Sandi

Happy Pink Saturday Kelsie Sweetie...
Oh what a beautiful share. I love this hat box and the gloves, and yes it does take you to another place and time.

When I first saw the box and the gloves, I could see a young woman, traveling alone on a train, traveling to a new home, a BIG city perhaps, her first teaching job. She so wanted to make a good first impression when the train arrived to the BIG city.

I am Country Wings in Phoenix, your newest follower. I love your blog home and I can't wait to follow you along in your Country Home. Please pop over and say hello. I would love to have you follow me as well. I have grown wings living in the BIG city coming from the country. I love meeting new friends and sharing a long the way.

Many hugs sweetie...Sherry

So pretty, things were sure different back then, such elegance. Though I must say, I prefer my jeans and tennis shoes, with some elegance now and then. LOL.

I like your story for the girl that wore those gloves, and carried that hatbox! Wouldn't you love to see the dress that went with those gloves?!

Kelsie, I remember my grandmother, the epitome of class and grace; quite the lady. She used to tell me never travel with less than three hat boxes even if two are empty and you're wearing the only one you own; it just looks bad she said. And always, always buy two pair of the same gloves; you never know when you might lose one and three is better than two any day. I thought she was funny and didn't make a whole lot of sense but I adored her and think of her often.

I love your hatbox!! I have one too. I fill mine with birthday cards and hand written notes from family and friends. I love putting sweet memories in a pretty place. I wish ladies still wore gloves and lovely hats. It seems like we as a society get farther and farther away from dressing like real ladies. Imagine what the ladies in the 30's and 40's would think if they saw something like the entertainers on TV!! Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful weekend!
