it's the little things...

I have been sadly neglecting this blog...So involved in learning the new DSLR camera and all that is involved with starting my own Portrait Photography business, other things have fallen to the side.

The photography not the only reason, but definitely a big is Facebook...I told hubby yesterday, I need to get off Facebook and back to blogs...Facebook distracts me, blogs inspire me.

So here I am with a quicky update.

Gardens look sad this yr, no rain for months and no money for even a new plant...Beryl took care of the rain over the weekend, and we spent two glorious days watching the rain fall and the fields turn green before our eyes...Praise the Lord...It is raining again now even as I type...YAY there might even be hay in the barns around the area this year.

Many of my to-do projects have come to a halt also due to lack of funding and/or help with the heavy lifting.

But one that did get done yesterday...After 2yrs in the house, we now have a towel rail in the girls bathroom!!!

Lil Sara and her helper putting up the new towel rail.

For awhile I had a hook board hanging on the wall, but lil Sara tugged to hard on her towel one too many times and finally it gave way from the wall and almost hit her in the head...Hmm time to re-think this...So 2 weeks of the towels getting thrown over the sink by the girls, grated my nerves enough that Sunday night I told hubby if we have to take out a morgage on the farm, we WILL put up a proper rail in there.

So off to Walmart and another WOOT WOOT...They had all the Better Home Bathroom decor stuff on clearance...So for 1/2 of what we expected to pay, TAAAAA DAAAAAA towel rail...We even forked out for a matching handtowel ring for next to the basin.

Head for the hills.

This past weekend we headed for the hills to spend a fabulous 4days with Farmer Browns family...

The ride from lil Sara's point of view...She took this from her seat with my cellphone.

This was our first visit to the mountains since I was pregnant....A 9hr drive with a young child (and dog) is so much fun :)

 View from the back porch...

As you can see, the views are just awful

Sara being forced to spend time in the hot tub with the mountain views.

And absolutely nothing to do all day...

But seriously...
We had a wonderful time visiting, spending time together and watching the 3 cousins getting to know each other for the first time.

We also visited Meeks Park in Blairsville GA to do a family photo session...

It certainly is a challenge to photograph your own family session lol...Sadly Big Daughter could not make the trip as she had to work...We missed her so much.

My BIL's wife was nice enough to take a couple of photos of Farmer Brown, Lil Sara and myself...I know how much she hated using my new Canon camera...I actually thought I was going to have to mug her to get it back..

Of course the long drive home was full of pit stops for child and dog....This Burger King was great for Sara to run off some of her pent up energy after 6hrs in the car and we were able to let Rocky sit in the shade outside the fence while we all ate...he even got his own burger.

No big plans for this weekend, just putting up all the veggies I harvested yesterday and maybe even unpack the suitcase hehe....Hope yall have a wonderful long weekend.

Mothers Day - Dedication

Each Mothers Day at Pine Grove Baptist Church they do a Baby/Child Dedication service.
We stand before God and our Church family and friends and promise to raise up our wee ones in a Christian home and ask the Church to help us do this....Could you ask for a better way to spend Mothers Day morning? I think not.

Here is Lil Sara all dressed up for her Dedication, with her very handsome Daddy.

How sweet she looks.
(You want to see the flip side of this photo you will have to go visit my photography blog HERE )

Canning has begun for 2012

Yesterday afternoon a blanched and frozen 2 full gallon freezer bags of green beans.

Mummy's little Bean Snapper hard at work
Please note the mouthful of beans.

Bean creative..
Still a mouthful of is a wonder there was any left to freeze.

Today hubby and I did 6qts of Bread and Butter Pickles (BnBP) and 9qts of Pickled Yellow Squash.
For those wondering how to pickle squash...same as BnBP's but add thinly sliced green pepper and onion...They can also be diced and used as a relish mmmmmmMMMMM good.

The best part, we have not even started to harvest our own garden...The beans and squash came from Mr Jr's garden (Neighbor down the road) and the cucumbers where being given away at Sara's DayCare by one of the workers fathers.
