Planning and Planting....

It is another cold, cloudy and rainy day in Florida, so I have to settle for just dreaming of my garden again today...

Yesterday we did get a little bit done, David tilled and leveled one side of the front yard, we white washed an old piece of lattice for behind the rose garden we are creating...Lil Sara was a big help and filled the wheel burrow twice with rocks from the garden at the old house and then rode in the wheel burrow with the rocks on the way back to the new house while mummy and daddy took turns pushing it....She tried and help lug the 8ft 4x4 garden boarders from one house to the other also...Mummy did not really appreciate that help though..

This lovely cascade of wisteria is from last yr, we have it growing wild all thru the wooded part of our property...Eventually I would like to try and tame it a little so it would stop killing the trees...I noticed yesterday the tips of the vines are starting to swell up so it will not belong before we get to enjoy them again.

Here are the two roses I brought to start my "rose garden"...I love all the different colored blooms on the Climbing Pinata and have planted it up against the white washed lattice...Of course with our little blue house how could I not get the Blue Girl...She is not far from the climber and will be surrounded by all the lovely bulbs I got today...
After the bulbs are planted I am going to scatter this packet of seeds, so hopefully (if the birds and chickens do not eat them before they sprout) we should have a lovely showing of flowers from spring thru autumn *crosses fingers*

Spotted these dwarf hydrangeas in Walmart...now to find the perfect home for them at my house...Oh and the money in the budget for more plants :0)

Hopefully soon they will start running the plastic rows in the fields behind the house and start planting the watermelons...(Remember I get to use the rows that are directly behind my house for my veggie garden this year)...Once they start planting the melons, I can start planting my veggies...

Herb garden bed is also on hold due to weather, but we did get the seeds in the mini green house planted today...Also on hold is planting the potatoes, which are now happily sprouting in the bucket in my utility room...Oh and no pics of the "rose garden" in the making because it is just to wet and icky to go outside and take photos today...

That about wraps up my gardening plans for now...Bring on the blue skies and warmer days.

Blessings Kelsie

Wow-how fun you are planning your garden. I love the wisteria. We had some growing in our woodland too-it was so pretty but then started to choke out the trees. It’s tough to control but you just can’t beat it when it blooms. Can’t wait to see your garden in full glory :)
Thanks for joining FF Friday,

Your wisteria are just gorgeous! Where I live, I understand (from others) that they are difficult to get to bloom but it looks like yours grows and blooms like crazy. Love your pink hydrangeas too.

Believe it or not, wisteria can take up to 7 years to bloom, but here's a tip you can try.. if you wack it on it's trunk with a baseball bat it will shock it into blooming...really.. sounds nuts I know.. As far as taming it.. Absolutely! Hack it back after it blooms about two weeks after, not too much later though as it will set buds after. I do love wisteria..
I hope the weather improves in Florida, as I'm heading to Orlando on Monday for a conference with my hubby and would just like to lounge by the pool, soaking up some sun.. :)

All you southern girls are so lucky to be able to be gardening this time of year. You're giving me spring fever! Thanks so much for including the link party directory button on your blog, Kelsey!

Hi, I just found your blog through Friendly Farm Friday. We also live in Florida and I had to run outside to check on the wisteria after seeing yours is budding. Ours isn't, it's a bunch of sticks right now, but I caught some fun pictures of it. Thanks!

You got some great buys here...the rain has finally moved out of Tallahasse, thank you Lord! A few days of bright sunshine will lift my spirits right on up..where are you located?

Oh, to hear about someone actually gardening is such a lift to my spirits. We're still under snow cover here. I love the wisteria and have never seen on in bloom, and I was surprised to hear it can be quite an aggressive plant. Usually something that beautiful isn't tough. So much fun to read about your gardening adventures!

Kelsie,
Lovely roses and planting for your garden, dear. It will be a very showing assortment of flowers and colors! Stopped by your lost homes post. Couldn't leave a comment, but I am so enjoying the photos and your news!
Fondly,
Pat
P. S. I remember riding in the wheelbarrow and planting tomatoes in the rain with my dad! Wonderful memories!

The photo of the Wisteria is just amazing! I came to Clearwater from snowy Illinois and am so happy in the warmer weather.. but I had to learn a new way to garden! My yard is not veggie and flower friendly,, so I use Florida Plants...Wonder if I could grown wisteria? going to the garden shop tomorrow!
Thanks for posting that.

It is hard to be a gardener and go into stores with beautiful plants. Very difficult to say 'no' and to plan first before buying. The hydrangeas are especially beautiful. We used to have a blue one and a pink one at our home in SC.

How beautiful, all we have right now is snow, snow, and more snow. Your header caught my heart. I love reading about families that are carrying the legacy of generations past. I have a deep connection to our land too.
