A Chorus of Sewing Machines

Yesterday while out and about with eldest daughter, I came across all these lovely old Sewing Machines in the antique store next to the Quilt Shoppe which I will share pics of at a later time...

The Quilt Shoppe is located in the old Coca Cola factory building on main street Trenton, next to the old railway depot, and then behind the factory is the "Ice House" building, which now houses antiques, handmade confections, a beauty parlor, a long arm quilting machine that is amazing to watch in action and a banquet room...

But back to the sewing machines...Each sewing machine is for sale and I am told are in working order...Most were Singers (hence the Chorus pun) but other brands were represented...

You just have to love the shape of these old machines...

I love the drop sides on this ones table...

Don't let the fact it is sitting on a peddle base fool you...

It is actually the first electric sewing machine from 1917...
Can you imagine how rich the original owner must have been to buy this back then...

More oldies on the kitchen table...what a fun sewing circle this could be...

It was harder to photograph these little ones in the case, though I had turned off my flash, nothing I could do about the shop's lighting..

Classic black and gold Singer..

Even this machine proceeds me by a whole decade

Can you believe this cutie still has it's cover...

Comes with the instruction manual....

Lastly 3 "toy" machines...2 complete with original boxes....

It was fun to see so many old machines in one place, I hope you enjoyed seeing them also.

Blessings Kelsie

Kelsie,
These are lovely photos of the sewing machines and I adored your pun! I won't sew. . .don't ask me! I hate sewing! I know that's strong, but just as true! I had a toy sewing machine as a child. Don't know where it went, don't care! I own two sewing machines. My DH uses them regularly. HA! Again, lovely post! Thanks for sharing!
Fondly,
Pat

Nice to see all the sewing machines. My grandmother used to have one of those really old ones. My mom also had a Singer from probably the 60s or 70s. One of those that fit in a little desk. Don't ask what insanity got into us, but the machine stopped working and probly just needed to be serviced. We didn't want to deal with the desk nor did we want to take it with us when we moved.

We sold that machine for next to nothing at a yard sale. The lady who bought it was thrilled. She said she was buying it for the table, but her husband told us when he came to pick it up that he might get it fixed. Oh well, live and learn. That was the machine I learned to sew on, so for sentimental purposes, I wish we had kept it now.
