I am sure many of you remember our $30 Gate Arbor Project...I totally adore how this turned out and it really set the feel for the entire front garden and house...We have had so many lovely comments both on the blog and in real life about this recycled piece of garden "art"
And some of you may remember me mentioning how many pecan branches have come down so far this summer, between the afternoon thunderstorms, that are a way of life here in Florida and the fact the trees are just LOADED with heavy nuts...

The other day we got some very high winds and heavy rains, even for around here...When I heard a crash from the master bedroom...On inspection nothing INSIDE the room was a-miss, but outside the window I saw this...Yup another pecan branch came down...(side note...check the cheeky male Cardinal peeking thru the window at me taking photos)
There has been for the longest time a rather large branch caught up in the crook of the tree, well it seems that with the wind and rain it grew to heavy and brought down the branches it was caught in...(another side note...Notice how much the grass has come in over the past few months..yay)
Alas it tore the decorative top from my arbor...Hubby assures me he can fix it no problem, thank goodness...
Though I am sad about the arbor not looking so pretty right now, I am just grateful it did not do any damage to the house...
Even my angel statue was spared...
My hanging basket with the almost dead petunia was an unfortunate casualty..But this is nothing but an inconvenience that is easily fixed....Please send up a little prayer for our friends who are getting more rains and flooding from the TS LEE in Mississippi

Oh I am so sorry about the arbor top, but thankful that it can be fixed. So glad the house wasn't damaged. I hope your rain and wind stops soon, and sure wish we would get a little rain. We have had none for months. Hugs, Marty

Wind damage can be intense. Be sure to check your roof. . .we didn't realize ours have been so badly damaged from wind and hail until months later in a heavy downpour we had water damamge in the guest room! When the wind dies down...put somebody up there to inspect the roof! So glad your arbor can be repaired!

I'm so sorry that your pretty arbor got damaged, but I'm glad to hear that it can be fixed. We are surrounded by pecan trees, too. They are always dropping their branches. Ours are loaded with pecans this year, but many of the green ones are coming down in the winds, too.
I'm really glad your arbor will be (hopefully) an easy fix. Hope the storms let up soon!
All in all, I guess you are lucky. Things could have been much worse. I do hope the arbor gets fixed.... it is very beautiful!
Oh, no. So sorry for your arbor, which is beautiful by the way, but I am so glad it wasn't worse.
Thankful it didn't do any real damage! We received over three inches of rain here from Lee...strong winds too, with minimal damage.

Oh, no! that must have been some wind! I am glad your husband can fix it, but i still would have been devastated by the damage of your gorgous gate! Your arbor is lovely, Kelsie. So sorry about the damage but glad hubby can repair it.
I am new here, it looks like Florida is becoming like us where typhoons are normal occurrences during the rainy season and when they are not present, the thunderstorms are there almost every afternoon. I hope flooding will not be so much in our countries. At least your arbor is spared nicely.
I would have been very upset about the arbor too!!! I hope it can be fixed as good as new soon!
since the summer is winding down here in Alberta, it will be nice to be able to see all the flaunts both past and present from all those who get to garden year round. I made FF open to photos from past gardens for those who are in climates that stink on ice like mine! lol
