That is a load of pooh....

This is what 5 cubic feet of cow poop looks like...
The tarp is to help it decompose a little faster...
This is what it looks like from a distance....If you look closely you can see where hubby tilled the outer boarder of what will become the fall veggie garden...We already brought some of our seed from Jenkins feed and seed store in Chiefland...They sell the seed by the weight so it is much more cost efficient than buying the small packets from Wal-mart...better quality seed too :)

Hubby got Silver Queen Corn, which if we want to have any for Thanksgiving we better get the seed into the flats this weekend some time....I grabbed spinach and English peas...but also plan to grow broccoli, collie-flower and what ever herbs I can lay my hands on.

Hubby also started removing the 20 something years of leaf build up off of an old outbuilding we need to pull down...Here Sara is showing you what lovely rich compost it had turned into....this deliciousness will also go into the garden..

Though if I have my way, it will be used in my flower beds.

Have you started planning or preparing your fall veggie gardens yet?

Blessings Kelsie

I've definitely started thinking about the fall garden. I looked at Walmart at collard, squash and broccoli plants. They're just too high. Reckon I'll start some seeds, as usual.

We'll be doing out usual turnip and mustard greens later. I want to add in some carrots this year. I still have okra and tomatoes right now, but my squash are gone, so I have room to start the carrots... ~Gotta be the best blog post title ever! LOL!

Just did a post on my horse compost. A lot of hobby farms come and take a little. I'm always so happy to share.

LOL at the idea of a fall garden! We have just about a 100 day growing season here. We have had snow in late September - and have had a major blizzard in October 3 of the last 4 years we have lived here! No 'fall' garden for us! We get one shot at it! (So, we do get the snow, but we have beautiful, warm days in between storms - just didn't want you to think that once it snowed we had constant winter!)

LOL! I love the intro about that pile of pooh and what a great little helper Sara is too. Seeing your progress toward your fall garden is making me feel a bit guilty this week. There are a few beds that need re-mulched over here and a few plants that are ready to pull, but I have been preoccupied, enjoying reading blogs all day... hehehe

Have a great week.

That is a lovely pile of pooh, and the garden is going to love it, too.

I have never figured out a way to start a fall garden since by the time of our first killing frost which could be as early as mid-September (but I hope not) we're done for the season.

The growing season here for tender annuals/perennials is June 1 which is 'usually' our last chance of frost to September and that's it. Sometimes I'm happy that's it, because by the time September rolls around I'm ready to give up the garden and start yanking stuff out.
