Sleep Study Results...

Results of Sara's sleep study just came back...She is confirmed to have mild to moderate Sleep Apnea...this on a night when she had a "good" nights sleep compared to some she has at home...Next step is to see a Ear, Nose and Throat specialist about having her tonsils and adenoids removed...As moderate is a red flag for kids with this condition.

The results are no great surprise since this is why she was sent to have the study to begin with.

The benefits of the surgery will mean no more bouts of strep throat...less ear infections...BETTER NIGHTS SLEEP for Sara and me...general improved health since her body will be able to actually rest, so little colds like this past one will have less chance of turning into pneumonia again..

Right now I am simply exhausted, after this last 10 days of her being sick...She had another relapse on the weekend and spent Saturday morning at the walk-in clinic and all the time doing round the clock 4hrly breathing treatments from the 9th right up last night the 19th...This morning her lungs were finally deemed CLEAR...so tomorrow morning at 4am no more alarm clock telling me to get up to administer another breathing treatment...

So with that in mind, the idea of spending a week with her recovering from above mentioned surgery is not very welcome, but I am sure I will be less exhausted by the time we book her in...and the long term health benefits will out way the inconvenience of the recovery period.

Please say a little prayer for us and please excuse my tardiness in visiting yall and responding to your comments...

Blessings Kelsie

Hello, so glad they have found out what is causing all of Sara's problems. My little boy was having the same types of problems. He had his tonsils and over 50% of his adenoids removed last year and has been better ever since. He sleeps very well now and no longer snores. He snored very loudly. He also has had no ear infections, sore throat or colds. I'm sure Sara will do fine during the surgery and will definetely rest better once everything is done, and so will you. From my experience, the surgery was not too awfully bad. My little one was a tad cranky afterward but did very well for the most part and got to go home the next day. Get some rest and have a fantastic day.

Oh, Kelsie, sorry to hear about lil Sara's ordeals. What a brave little girl to fall asleep with all the wires on (I just went through a sleep study myself and know how foreign it all feels.) I hope the doctors can get everything fixed very soon so she (and you!) can get a good night's sleep. Keeping you in my prayers.

Hi Kelsie

you might not know, Josiah had the same study different results though. Josiah had his tonsils, adenoids out and it was a easy surgery within a day he was eating well and they recover so quickly. I have heard it can help with behavioural issues something to do with the sleep I think. Josiah's temperament changed a little afterwards. So yeah don't let the idea of surgery scare you even if we know it is for there good, short term pain but not too bad. all the best for her op I hope and pray that she gets to see a specialist and onto the surgery list quickly.
