Revisiting an old love...

Yesterday I got a few quiet moments just for me, so I snatched up the kiddies crayola water color set and headed out to sit in the sun on the front porch.

A little disclaimer, back in my pre-marriage days I was an oil painter, water-colors are something quite different...I am also year out of practice with a brush, but boy did it feel good to have one in my hand again.

Painting a moving chicken was a challenge since the girls were in full "find the bug mode" all over the front yard...Maybe I should try working from my chicken photographs to begin with.

My Jar lid might be a little lope sided but I was happy with how the glass jar turned out...

I think next time I have some quiet moments for myself, I will dust of my old text books and do some of the basic exercises in the Elements of Design....after all 12yrs is a very long time when you are not using a skill set.

These are lovely, I like to paint, I have not for a while, and would love to do it more often..fitting it in sometimes is difficult, and then there is the quiet issue...painting is a peaceful project, creative just flows...I like to think about painting...

Looks pretty good. I like to sketch, never was much with a brush. Yet, I don't seem to think about sketching when I have time.

Oh man, I wish I could do that! Anything I attempt looks like a third grader did it! Your work is lovely...even with moving chickens! And, I've heard that trying to paint glass is really tough - your jar looks great!
I envy you the quiet time sitting outside. That wouldn't be so much fun here! But... our time will come!

Kelsie-- I am so impressed!! I have an art background, studied it at university for my degree. I have my own art all over the house, but it takes a lot of our soul to paint/draw/sculpt, etc., and it can indeed be good for us. You should keep it up. Your shadowing on the jar lid is very good and the glass comes across as glass. You are talented. Keep sharing your work!!!

Great job-I love them! I just started painting again after a year of being in a slump. I need to paint something every day to get back in the groove!

Wish I could paint like that. I can't even draw. Which is funny because three of my girls are great artist. They didn't get it from me. I love the picture of the canning jar.

Very nice work! I've always loved watercolors myself... I'm actually doing a GIVEAWAY of one of my watercolors now just because it's my blog's 1st year anniversary... stop by if you get a chance...
