I snapped these photos the other day from my back door.
Bravo and some of his new girls
It makes my heart smile to see my happy chickens scratching and roaming around the property...
Out in the back of the property scratching around in the freshly cut sorghum stalks
and boy do they roam...Though I have noticed Lucy and Ethel are more inclined to stay close to the pen and driveway area, while Bravo and the new 9 girls will be everywhere and anywhere they can get too.
We hope this yr to get the boundary fences up and use this back area as pasture for the goats (and sheep down the road)...This morning hubby saw a Coyote cutting thru this area, so it is definitely time for the fences to go up...now to find the money.

You reckon a fence will keep the coyotes away?
One day I'm going to let my girls out to roam. But, not yet. ;)
Kelsie,
Pennies from Heaven...wishful thoughts coming your way that you'll find the "extra" cash needed to complete your project!
Fondly,
Pat
Thanks for the kind words regarding HD. :) I kinda want chickens . . . but then I wonder-do I really want chickens?
Hope you get your fence up soon!
Mine escape from their fenced in area once in a while. But they never leave the area around the fence. I so glad for that. We have loose dogs and raccoons in the area. Both would love to have them for dinner.
Hey darlin', I hopped over from Livin' a Dream just to see your 'country home'.
We don't have any chickens here on the Ponderosa...hubs said somethin' like..."ain't no respectable beef farmer raisin' chickens"...early on in our marriage.
Your free rangin' chickens look beautifully happy!
From the sunny hills and hollers of the Missouri Mountains, ya'll have a blessed and beautiful day! :o)
Imagine it and it will happen. Lot's of coyote's up here around the 3 Acre Homestead. We haved fenced as we could afford it. I have even gone as far as each paycheck buying 3 to 5 post till we have enough. Sending blessing of money for you. I had to buy a 22because the coyote's are so brave that one attempted to attack a hen one day while I was hanging clothes on the clothesline.
p.s. The coyote's have not come in the fenced in area. I even went as far as lining the field fence with chicken wire in the area the rabbits and ducks free range to keep them from going through field fence and getting snatched by a coyote on the outside
