Life continues in the garden....

Though the Gladioli are finished for the year there are still plenty going on in this 8x8 garden bed ...The 2 small rose bushes planted in here are currently hidden by the "cottage mix" flowers I sprinkled around them at the beginning of spring...Now this lovely mix is showing all its lovely gems and if the box is to be believed will continue to do so all summer long...I sure do hope so...

A bee enjoying the Corn Flowers..

I love these pretties...From what I can tell these are "Gloriosa Daisies" but I could be wrong..Anyone know for sure?

And of course the king of summer flowers, the sunflower, courtesy of the bird feed that used to hang over this spot :)

And lastly a very bad photo of the best part of a spring time garden...Wren Chicks...these babies are inside a basket containing my faux Stag-horn plant that hangs on the front porch...
I could not get a better photo because momma and poppa have done a great job of making sure the nest is down deep inside the basket under the faux plant and I did not want to disturb them anymore than I already had...

I also discovered another birds nest tucked away in the old power meter box that has had the meter removed that is located over near the old place...Not sure if it has chicks yet because I am too short to see down into where they tucked the nest lol

Blessings Kelsie

What a nice garden. I especially love the "Gloriosa Daisies". I had a huge beautiful staghorn fern hangin over my koi pond. After the many nights below freezing last winter, I have a huge barely alive staghorn fern now.

It's pretty funny how those birds can get into just about anything to build a nest!

I'm so jealous... we won't have sunflowers until late July or even August!

Beautiful flowers. I am excited to watch our sunflowers grow this year. The children and I planted an entire row in the garden area behind our green beans so we should have a beautiful area in several months. I enjoy photography and I can't wait to take them out there for some photos once they all come up. Have a great day.

I love the find a nest and watch as momma bird cares for them. Sweet. Pretty cottage garden.

Very nice flowers Kelsie. You will love keeping up with your wrens. They only live in the nest for 14 days. Is there any way to gather the cats up around the estimated fly date? I was so proud of my babies. And now I miss them so. I haven't removed the nest from the porch yet. It really needs to be moved because it is a screened-in porch and my dogs are out there all the time. I don't want daddy bird coming back to re-use the nest and run into a pit bull! I'll be waiting to see updates!

You will probably have that little wild flower area for years if you let it reseed. Love it!

Thanks for identifying those flowers-I have the same ones and I couldn't figure out what they were, but now I remember I did plant gloriosa daisies! Enjoy your garden!
