Down on Jr's Farm...

I wanted to share with you some photographs of an amazing veggie garden...Alas my camera batteries died so I was only able to grab a couple of shots...but you still get the idea at how large and super healthy this garden is...

It belongs to our neighbor down the road and one of lil Sara's favorite ppl...Mr Jr...Every spring and fall we are blessed by this garden...and this year Mr Jr and his son have gone all out and planted the biggest garden they have had in quite a few years...

The top image was taken from mid point in the garden facing east...
They always plant enough to feed 3 house holds (Jr's, his son's and his daughter's) as well as to give away to friends and neighbors (like us)

Lil Sara and Mr Jr digging in the dirt for lovely fresh....

Red Irish potatoes...

Kelsie, you cannot beat fresh food straight from the garden! And those potatoes, I am so jealous that his are ready. I cannot wait for our potatoes to be ready. I am still amazed that ya'll farm, and I don't see palm trees everywhere lol.

We love to dig the potatoes when they are small, or take the ones that don't get very big, just barely scrape the skin, but leave most of it on, and cook them in the "white stuff" as my hubby calls it. I just make a thick gravy in them, then serve over some corn bread, ooooh so good! You don't even need any meat or anything else with it.

Sara is a cutie and looks so proud of her potato. Aren't you the lucky one. I think most of us are lucky if we know a farmer. I will reap the benefits of my moms garden. Happy Monday!

Great garden! My Grandpa used to grow potatos in his garden...oh how I miss gardening with him...he would take off his hat and we'd fill it up with tomatoes! Thanks for sharing...it brought back some wonderful memories!

Potatoes already!? How wonderful and how generous, too. When my sons were little, they loved to dig potatoes; said they felt it was like finding hidden treasure, and they were right!

You make me eager to get my garden in. We finally have some sun in the forcast, so maybe things will dry out enough soon :)
