Spring is on its way...

I can feel it...Not in my bones or gut or anything like that...In my sinus'...Last week the robins appeared by the dozens, followed by mine and lil Sara's allergies kicking into high gear...Infact her allergies have given her an ear infection to boot...Yay now mummy gets to play nurse again *grumbles*...Other signs that spring is on it's way is the green patches showing up in the grass, the trees are starting to show budding and my shrubs out the front have signs of new growth.

So what is a girl to do, but to start planning the new garden beds...Today I made a meager start on what will be my "kitchen herb" garden...The picture above is the area beneath the kitchen window...The white patches you are seeing is builders sand, so we will need to build the soil up quite a bit...After taking this photo I had hubby roto-till the strip between the step and the lattice...

I have a small amount of homemade compost to add to the soil and will add a bag of cow manure as well...With that done I can start planting...The two black pots in the photo contain 2 different types of mint courtesy of my MIL...I also have rosemary that I started from cuttings from my old garden and today purchased a small lavender plant...I also picked up Dill, Basil and Thyme seeds to get started in a mini green house and then transfer over in a few weeks....

Fingers crossed I will have a nice little herb garden like the one in the picture by the end of this summer...While shopping in the garden section I grabbed a couple of roses as well...Now to make the final decision on where to plant them as well...

Other stuff I have been working on this week is for the new blog, doing research and lining up more homes to photograph in the next few weeks...I hope you will stop by and see the newest entry, an adorable white farmhouse built in 1940..

Still chasing the sheep dream as well...Hope next Thursday to take a tour of a sheep operation just north of here, they have been raising sheep in FL for 20yrs...Super excited to see their setup...And lots of photos to share I am sure :)

You are so blessed to be able to start your gardening this early! I imagine by the time we are planting that your garden will be producing and it will most likely be very hot there. I'm going over to look at your house blog. Have a blessed weekend. Pamela
