So what is a girl to do, but to start planning the new garden beds...Today I made a meager start on what will be my "kitchen herb" garden...The picture above is the area beneath the kitchen window...The white patches you are seeing is builders sand, so we will need to build the soil up quite a bit...After taking this photo I had hubby roto-till the strip between the step and the lattice...
I have a small amount of homemade compost to add to the soil and will add a bag of cow manure as well...With that done I can start planting...The two black pots in the photo contain 2 different types of mint courtesy of my MIL...I also have rosemary that I started from cuttings from my old garden and today purchased a small lavender plant...I also picked up Dill, Basil and Thyme seeds to get started in a mini green house and then transfer over in a few weeks....
Fingers crossed I will have a nice little herb garden like the one in the picture by the end of this summer...While shopping in the garden section I grabbed a couple of roses as well...Now to make the final decision on where to plant them as well...

You are so blessed to be able to start your gardening this early! I imagine by the time we are planting that your garden will be producing and it will most likely be very hot there. I'm going over to look at your house blog. Have a blessed weekend. Pamela
