Last night our church held a Fish Fry and Fireworks to celebrate the birthday of this great nation...Of course there was fun for the kids to be had...

Lil Sara got to enjoy the bouncy house early in the evening...Later there was a line and a wait...and though she did get to go on again, this was the best photo op with no other bouncers in the way.

After all that bouncy and running around in the playground a nice slushy was needed to quench her thirst...You can see the older kids playing baseball in the background...
We also enjoyed a slice of fresh watermelon provided by the same neighbor that grows melons at the back of our place...Me and Hubby enjoyed the boiled peanuts...not to salty not to bland...they were just right...
Before dinner they showed a brief video telling the history of the Star Spangled Banner...I could not find the exact video on youtube to share, but it was very moving and powerful knowing the sacrifices made to keep the flag flying on the rampart that night at Fort McHenry..
Later inside was served fried Catfish and Tilapia, chicken tenders for those non-fish loving folk, grits, baked beans, slaw, hush puppies and fries....Deserts were provided by the ladies of the church and was a smorgasbord of deliciousness.

Of course afterwards a fireworks display, but alas the noise was more than a 3yr old can take so we headed home....As we got out the car we could still hear them in the distance 5miles away.
It was a wonderful evening of friends, fellowship and a celebration of Freedom.
I hope by the next 4th of July I would have had a chance (and money) to take the required tests and will be a Citizen of the USA not just being a resident...
Blessings Kelsie
