lil Sara turns 3

Pink is for little girls...and mine just got a year older...

Lil Sara arrived in the world 7 weeks earlier than planned by emergency C-section...She was just 4lb 5oz but perfect and HEALTHY...It was a long 13 days wait for her to be big enough to be able to ride in a baby carrier so she could come home from the special nursery...How we counted our blessings that day...

And here she is today...3yrs later...tall for her age and super smart...

Oh boy look what Nanma and Poppa got me for my birthday...

So much fun to be had...

Oh wow...Mummy and Daddy got me tricycle... Zoom...

Hang-on a minute...Mummy says I have to wear my helmet if I am going to ride it...

I am going to have a party tomorrow at Day Care with all my friends...Today we are just going to enjoy my new toys at home and let Mummy rest from having her teeth pulled out...I wonder if that is where she got the money for my bike...A big ugly molar should be worth a lot to the tooth fairy...right??

Update: Poor lil Sara got a fever and was not able to go to daycare this Friday...We will just have to throw her an "Unbirthday Party" at a later date.

My face hurts...

I had my back molar pulled today...I lost the filling a couple of yrs back but since we had no insurance at the time ignored it...then forgot about it...until it started hurting...So finally I found a dentist...They did offer to do a root canal and crown but even with insurance it was not in the budget anytime soon....so for a fraction of the cost they pulled it out...needless to say, I would advice anyone that looses a filling to not wait almost 7yrs before having it looked at.

Ok I am off to lay.

New look for my doll website

Because I don't have enough to keep me busy I decided to completely change the format of my doll website into a blog...Actually that statement is only a little bit sarcastic...By switching to a blog it will be much quicker and easier to edit and keep updated...Anyway if you would like to take a peek the link is http://www.mutantgoldfishdesigns.com/

Sara's own room...

With the summer weather already arriving here in FL, it is getting too hot to do much outside so I am turning my attention back to the inside of the house...Even though because of her sleep issues lil Sara still sleeps in a toddler bed in our room, I thought it was time to start working on creating her a proper big girls room...This will also help get the toys out of the family room.

These are my starting point...The prints are of pages from one of her May Gibbs, Bush Babies books..I asked her to show me her favorite pictures, then scanned and printed them on textured "ivory" paper...The photo frames I had already, but they contained floral prints and were gold...I painted them with "Ballet Slipper" pink spray paint and then scruffed them up...

We removed all the boxes of stuff we had stored in the room and guess what...Lil Sara could not wait to try out her new BIG BIG bed...

We have a long way to go...Wish I had a my BFF Chele here to help...But alas she has to work...Oh and lives on the other side of the world.

Sara's Sleep Study

My baby snores...No not just a little, but OLD MAN snores...She also has had numerous ear infections and bouts of Strep and has the hugest tonsils you have ever seen...Plus at almost 3yrs old she still wakes during the night sometimes 2 or 3 times... So to try and get to the bottom of this her Dr sent her for a sleep study...Here are the photos of her being wired up...

We had brought along a movie to keep her occupied but alas the DVD would not work. But it was ok, our wonderful Tec Victor to the rescue, he found one of the Simpsons Movie...Thank goodness she is so young and all the smut went over her head...She was totally riveted to it having never actually seen The Simpsons before.

Having had a sleep study done on myself helped me to understand what they would be doing to her which made it easier all round I think...

I also showed her lots of photos online of kids at various stages of being wired for sleep studies so she also knew what they were going to be doing to her...I did this by simply Googling "Sleep Study Kids" and going directly to the images page.

I took the time to braid the front of her hair so it was out of the way but allowed them to get the electrodes on her scalp...On an adult this is pretty much were they stop..

But on the kids they wrap the head like a mummy so they do not pull anything off during the night....Look how still she is sitting...She made us so super proud...She did not complain or even move around while Victor wired and wrapped her up...

The tube in her nose is not oxygen being pumped in but actually measures the carbon dioxide exhaled thru the nose during her sleep...this ready of course only works on nose breathers...

Here she is all wired and taped up...What a good girl she is...

Into bed and asking for her stinky rag (oops I mean snuggly blanket) and Buzz

Let the study begin..

The Ped-Sleep Doctor will read the results and then send a report thru to our Doctor...It could take a couple of weeks...So now we wait...
